Device management in Power Apps

What we own, who has it, and what needs attention

Asset management dashboard in Power Apps, with fleet value, assignments, maintenance, and warranties

We use a Power App to manage devices internally: laptops, phones, monitors, and the rest of the equipment that moves between people and offices. The screens here use demonstration data. The people, offices, and assets are fictional, and they stay apart from company records. The application is the register we use for the real fleet.

The fleet at a glance

The dashboard shows how many assets are active, the purchase value of that fleet, how many are assigned and how many are free, how many need maintenance, and how many warranties expire in the next 60 days. Category and status sit beside those figures. A short activity list records what just happened, such as a repair booked with a supplier or a headset issued to a desk.

The register

Search by asset, person, or tag, and filter by category, status, location, and whether the item is assigned. From a row you can open the device, edit it, or remove it, and you can add a device when something new comes in. Categories in the sample include laptops, monitors, phones, peripherals, meeting rooms, and furniture.

A device record holds the serial number, condition, location, purchase price, and warranty expiry. Warranties that are close are marked on the list. The record also shows who has the device now, who had it before, and any maintenance that has been logged. From there the device can be transferred, returned, sent for maintenance, or retired.

People and their equipment

Open a person and see the equipment they hold, their office, and the value of that kit. In the sample, a consultant in London holds a laptop, a phone, and a monitor. The question can start from the device or from the person.

The register sits in Microsoft 365, with the people who issue and collect equipment. Assignment, warranty, and location are in one app. The same pattern connects to Dataverse or to the systems that already hold asset and people data. The 3D drone designer is another canvas app, built around a model you can turn and reconfigure. A register shaped around your own equipment is Power Platform consultancy.
